As the freezing cold weather gets closer it’s time to start thinking about protecting your Pressure Washer during the winter months. We are here to help you and provide some information on the best ways to protect your power washer and prevent any future problems.
Freezing temperatures are the worst possible thing for a pressure washer, especially smaller hobby or domestic pressure washers. Jet washers contain water throughout the system and the water will freeze and expand, damaging pipes and critical internal parts in the pump and other areas. Nothing is worse than using your machine a handful of times only to go to use it again in the spring and find your investment has frost damage.
Here are some tips on what to do to protect your pressure washer whilst it is stored over the winter:
HOW TO PROTECT YOUR PRESSURE WASHER
-
Store your pressure washer in a warm, frost protected environment
-
If you are unable to store it in a warm environment, then wrap it up in a warm covering
-
Ensure you drain all the water from your machine after its last use
-
Disconnect the water supply, high pressure hose, trigger and lance and drain off any excess water
-
If possible, run an anti-freeze solution through the machine. This will protect the internal components during the cold months
-
If you have an industrial pressure washer ask us about installing a frost protection system. This can be a simple job on static cabinet pressure washers and can also be fitted to industrial mobile power washers as well.
-
Ask us to service your machine before winter approaches. This can help any problems from arising when you need to use your machine again
